Sindh information secretary Dr Zulfiqar Ali Shalwani has directed newspaper publishers and electronic media to refrain from printing, publishing or airing issues that might incite hatred or cause conflicts among different sects.
Shalwani was presiding over a meeting of the provincial action plan committee’s sub-committee on media at his office on Thursday. The committee was formed under the auspices of the national action plan.
The secretary said it was the responsibility of all print and electronic media houses to support the measures taken by the government to curb terrorism in the country. The participants suggested that to promote feelings of brotherhood, love and affection, awareness should be raised among the people against terrorism through mobile SMS service, cable network.
They also advised to publish articles and columns in newspapers against terrorism.
