KARAK:

At least eight people were killed and 10 others injured when a passenger van plunged into a ditch in Banda Daud Shah, Karak district on Thursday morning. Some of the wounded are said to be in critical condition.

Karak’s district administration officials said the van was on its way from Bannu to Peshawar when its brakes failed, sending it plummeting into the ditch. Seven people died on the spot, while another succumbed to injuries at the hospital.

Soon after the tragic accident, policemen and volunteers from different non-governmental organisations reached the spot and shifted the bodies as well as the injured to the hospital. Officials added 10 injured passengers were being treated at District Headquarters Hospital, Karak. Most of the deceased hailed from Bannu.
