LAHORE:
The city district government is monitoring the supply and sale of petrol at all pumps through a control room, District Coordination Officer Capt (retd) Muhammad Usman said on Wednesday.
“The situation is improving with each passing day. If citizens still face the problem of shortage or overcharging at any petrol pump, they should file a complaint with the city district government on the number: 042-99214191,” he told reporters. ADCR Irfan Nawaz Memon and MPA Mian Naseer were also present on the occasion.
Usman said that representatives of oil companies were present in the control room around the clock. “They are in constant contact with the Machike Oil Depot for supplying fuel stations of the city. Officials deployed at the pumps are ensuring that the fuel supplied is sold to people,” Usman said.
He said the district administration had formed four squads to take action against those selling loose petrol.
“The squads patrolled Shadbagh, Ferozepur Road, Baghbanpura and Gujjarpura on Wednesday,” he said. He said that 28 people had been arrested for selling loose petrol.
“Price control magistrates have been directed to continue the crackdown against overcharging,” Usman said.
He said that the city district government had provided 3.2 million litres of petrol to 242 filling stations until Tuesday night.
“The situation has improved. The citizens should not panic,” Usman said.
He said that the city district government had identified 11 pumps for supplying petrol to emergency vehicles.
