Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) chief Sirajul Haq has announced nationwide protests against the publication of blasphemous caricatures in French satirical magazine Charlie Hebdo for Friday (today).
The announcement was made during a party meeting on Thursday chaired by the party’s Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa chief Professor Ibrahim.
A statement issued by the party quoted Haq saying the party will not hesitate to render any sacrifices for the Holy Prophet’s (pbuh) honour.
Haq said only a constitutional and peaceful struggle can bring change in the country and that Islamic movements should adopt democratic means of propagating their message and avoid an armed struggle. Haq added the reopening of schools speaks volumes of the courage and resilience of the people of Peshawar.
