“A complete list of all the reusable military equipment was provided to Pakistan, from which whatever was deemed necessary and was required by the armed forces was selected by the defence ministry. Pentagon was accordingly informed about it,” sources in the ministry said on the condition of anonymity
They added that a majority of the equipment selected from the list has already been handed over to Pakistan. After the announcement of the withdrawal of ISAF forces from Afghanistan, Pentagon decided to give military equipment to Afghanistan and Pakistan.
“However, a major chunk of the military equipment that includes sophisticated weapons is being moved to Jordan,” the sources said.

@Fawad. Those Russian hands me downs worth 2.3 Billion dollars can turn your land(??) into nuclear dust in a 30 seconds.!!!!!!!!!
Arms denote strength. And state of the art weapons allow the manufacturing West to dictate terms to whoever buys it. As long as countries like India, Pakistan and others depend on Western, and even Russian, weapons, they will have to eat crow.
@James:
Says the guy who cared enough to write a comment on a Pakistani news site.
Beggars are not CHOSERS.
@abreez the big day to be proud of it will be when all the appratus you mentioned was manufactured by you unttil then take the fake pride elsewhere. And yea that i would say for pak too
@abreez: "For India, American gifts are F404-GE-IN20 turbofan engines for HAL Tejas C-17 Globemaster (9) C-130J Super Hercules (5) Boeing P-8 Poseidon (6) Sikorsky SH-3 Sea King (8) Boeing AH-64D Apache (70 maybe ordered) Boeing CH-47 Chinook (15 is being ordered)"
These are not GIFTS. Indians paid cold hard cash for them.
@abreez: HAL was supposed to be a totally indigenous aircraft....being both overdue and overfunded it still not having a local engine is a failure in itself
you need C 17s for your overweight arjuns...its not a gift its a logistical requirement
pakistan already has sea kings
americans always sell of their older equipment when they want to develop the advanced one...that is the case with the apache....theyre gonna sell most of their AH-64Ds to gain funds to develop the advanced AH-64Es and AH-65Fs even england is considering scrapping off their apache fleet
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/uknews/defence/9722347/British-Armys-fleet-of-Apache-helicopters-could-be-scrapped.html
chinooks are old and slow so you got screwed there....you were better off with the black hawks
no harm I guess- very close people always get used/ left overs of elders. I have used left overs of my big brother.no need for being ashamed,it means closeness.
it all started from lunda clothes, then lunda branded computers, then lunda mobiles and then the lunda used cars and now getting used weapons in lunda.
@Anon Indians only like Russia's Hands me down... submarines etc..
Pleased to know that Indians are rather happy just because of the word "leftover". From now on, the Government of Pakistan should insert this word in all the arms deals so that our Indian friends do not become unhappy. BTW, we don't mind using the "leftover" arms against your TTP stooges, and who knows whom else.
Reduce, Recycle & Reuse is the best practice of 21st century. So why fret over it. Pakistan thinks green. Secondly n specially to those fm across the border, what we hv done with used hardware in the past you could not do with best of breed and latest in manufacture. A fact not claim. Does M. M. Alam ring a bell. In fact yours and equally ours' worry and concern should be that such time should never come b/w us that these are put to use. Truce preacher all the way.
@abreez: Yes, the only difference is that Indians pay for their stuff, and you get it in a begging bowl
@abreez: Thank you for this information.
It must be reassurring for the 700m Indians who have to defeacate in the open, that a P8 Poseidon is vigilently guarding them whilst they do their business.
We want friendship with India. Lets talk and resolve our conflicts. We can be great neighbours. Then we will not need new or left over weapons!
@abreez Well, I am not defending anyone but technically those are not gifts. They are purchased by Indian Govt.
Who is not aware of the fact that all scrap metal from weaponry including large ships eventualy end up at the Pakistan cemetry. The scrap dealers in the country make their living from it?

@Bewildered- "Our Indian friends are welcome to vent their anger here."
As if we're waiting for your welcome or permission....
@Bewildered:
We don't need to vent our anger for the "leftover" arms given to Pakistan......if we need it, we will buy it...also please check if NATO has some "leftover" with them..
Good. This is a positive step.
Pakistani troops need protection against IED especially, body armour and advanced surveillance to assist in their operations in the border regions against Indian backed terrorists.
There should infact be a major and immediate effort by our allies in NATO and other countries to ensure Pak forces are adequately equiped to deal with the tremendous challenges (which they understand having faced this themselves).
Beggars are not the choosers!!
@Bewildered: Not surprised. This is usual Pakistan, getting leftover from all over the world
For India, American gifts are F404-GE-IN20 turbofan engines for HAL Tejas C-17 Globemaster (9) C-130J Super Hercules (5) Boeing P-8 Poseidon (6) Sikorsky SH-3 Sea King (8) Boeing AH-64D Apache (70 maybe ordered) Boeing CH-47 Chinook (15 is being ordered) And for Pakistan ‘leftover’ arms.
Is that all COAS could negotiate on his unprecedented 2 weeks tour to US of A?
@Bewildered: When we take pride in using used equipment, nibbling at bread crumbs, and accepting refuse of others, I weep a river out.
American hand-me-downs aren't going to upset us. :)
@Bewildered: They will not be bewildered. They could be amused ---especially by the word leftover. See the irony?
Not sure if this includes “ammunition”, if it does then let’s hope this “Ojri Camp” will not explode!
Our Indian friends are welcome to vent their anger here.
