The incident occurred as Bieber was leaving Beverly Glen Deli with his wife, Hailey Bieber, after breakfast. Paps had been waiting outside, and as Justin walked toward his SUV, the photographer thanked him.

Bieber, visibly upset, asked the photographer why he was thanking him and explained that it was inappropriate. He told the paparazzo to focus on taking pictures and to avoid thanking him. This reaction was unusual for Bieber, who is generally more reserved with the media.
