Attack on defence ministry bus: Court rejects plea against death penalty

LAHORE: A division bench of the Lahore High Court on Wednesday confirmed death sentence of Amir Adeel for attacking on a defence ministry bus in Rawalpindi in 2007, killing at least 25 people and injuring 66. He was arrested in 2008 and was sentenced to death on March 14, 2011 by Anti-Terrorism court of Rawalpindi. Appearing before the bench, counsel for convict said the accused was charged with helping the suicide bomber Shakeel Pathan to reach the spot in a rented car. However, no one from the injured had seen his client driving.
