PARACHINAR:

At least four personnel of security forces were killed and two others injured as a result of a high-intensity improvised explosive device (IED) attack in Lower Kurram Agency on Thursday.

The officials at Sadda, the second biggest town of Kurram Agency, said that unknown militants planted the IED on a road near Shabal village, which went off with a big bang when a vehicle of security forces passed by. As a result of the explosion, the vehicle was badly damaged, whereas four soldiers on board were killed and two others injured.

The officials said that both the injured are under treatment in Alizai Civil Hospital.

Meanwhile, police have recovered two unclaimed rocket launchers near Government Boys Primary School in village Panian, some two kilometers from Haripur.

Muhammad Rafi of the Bomb Disposal Squad told the media that the rocket launchers were Russian-made and were live.

Police said it is believed that some outlaws from the Afghan camps had dumped these weapons to avoid arrests.
