Energy: Slovenian experts call on Punjab CM

Slovenian delegation calls on CM Punjab, discusses cooperation in energy, solid waste management and infrastructure.

LAHORE:
A delegation of Slovenia comprising experts from various sectors, led by the head of foreign investment, Dr Zoran Stamatovski, called on Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif at the chief minister’s secretariat on Thursday and discussed cooperation in energy, solid waste management and infrastructure sectors.

Sharif said that the Punjab government has created a conducive atmosphere for the promotion of investment in the province and public-private partnerships are being encouraged.


He said that Pakistan is facing a severe energy crisis and the Punjab government is working on various projects for generating energy from alternate sources. He added that vast opportunities for generating energy from hydro, solar and coal resources are available in Punjab and the government will encourage foreign investment in such projects.

Sharif received a briefing from the Slovenian delegation regarding generation of energy from waste and cooperation in hydropower generation and infrastructure. The chief minister then directed the vice chairman of the Punjab Investment Board to hold a dialogue for cooperation between Slovenia and the Punjab government in these sectors.
