Responsibility: Woman abandons sick child at hospital
FAISALABAD:
An unidentified woman on Tuesday left her sick child at emergency ward of the divisional headquarters (DHQ) hospital. “A woman came to the hospital with a two-day-old boy. She put the child on a stretcher and requested attendants of another patient to look after it saying that she needed to fill a form,” Additional Medical Superintendent Habib Ahmad told The Express Tribune. He said the baby started crying a little later. He said nurses, doctors and other paramedical staff started looking for the woman but did not find her. “I too rushed there and ordered that the child be provided proper healthcare,” Ahmad said. He said they had informed Civil Lines police about this and that the child be handed over to the Child Protection and Welfare Bureau if the woman did not show up. Civil Lines SHO Muhammad Arshad said they had registered a complaint and were looking for the woman.
