KARACHI: Workers and supporters of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) staged a demonstration outside the Karachi Press Club on Monday to protest the alleged killing of a party worker in police custody. A large number of the party’s workers, along with the body of the deceased, gathered at the KPC and shouted slogans against the police department. They alleged that the deceased, identified as Nazir Ullah, was detained by law enforcers and had died due to the torture at the Pirabad police station. The party’s local leaders demanded the government to take strict action against the involved police officials. During the protest, the police also baton-charged the activists. PTI Karachi president Ali Zaidi condemned the shelling and use of batons.
