ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad Traffic Police (ITP) issued challan tickets to 641 ‘important’ personalities including parliamentarians, envoys and top bureaucrats for traffic rules violations this year. An ITP spokesperson has said that the police enforce the law equally on all the road users, irrespective of their socio-economic standing. He said that five federal ministers, 11 provincial ministers, 14 ambassadors, 297 personnel of law enforcement agencies, 54 senior government officers, 26 officials of the judiciary, 13 journalists, 70 parliamentarians, 39 senators, 25 members of provincial assemblies are among those fined this year. “Islamabad Police IG Tahir Alam Khan has appreciated ITP’s performance, and its equal implementation of law,” the spokesperson said. “A VIP or a common man, every road user is equal to us. Our responsibility is to implement traffic rules for the safety of road users,” he said.
