Museum contains unique relics of the Ghandhara civilization

ISLAMABAD:


A fire broke out in a building housing a museum containing unique relics of the Ghandhara civilization.


The fire, which erupted in the canteen of the Awan-e-Sir Syed building in Sector G-5, gutted furniture, interior wooden, telephone and electricity wires and other valuables.

The fire was put out  by firefighters of civic agency’s emergency and disasters management department.

The cause of the fire could not be ascertained, however, an official said that en electric short-circuit may be the possible cause of the fire.

The firefighters also rescued 12 people who had trapped inside the building as the fire expanded to other rooms.

A total of five fire tenders took part in the operation spanning less than 10 minutes.

The building houses a museum containing the Ghandhara civilization’s relics, which were presented to the museum by late anthropologist and historian Ahmad Hasan Dani.

All such incidents must be thoroughly investigated. It could reveal a lot. But should not be handled like LDA Plaza fire which was the first job done by Shahbaz govt when it came to power.Nobody knows what happened there.
