KARACHI: A second-degree fire broke out at a yarn factory located near Ghani Chowrangi within the limits of the SITE police. The incident took place during the early hours of Thursday. The head of SITE fire brigade station, Tehseen Siddiqui, told The Express Tribune that the fire erupted at plot No D-78 on which the yarn factory is situated. “We received an emergency call at 5:10am and deployed all our fire tenders immediately,” he said. “Basically, the fire broke out in the shed located behind the factory. When we reached the site, the fire had destroyed everything in the shed.” Fortunately, no loss of life was reported. Siddiqui said that the cause of the fire might have been short-circuit. He added that nine fire tenders and two water tankers employed doused the fire after six hours of hectic effort.
