Encounter follow-up: Bodies of five ‘militants’ handed over to families

Bodies of the remaining unidentified eight militants are still at Edhi morgue.

KARACHI: The bodies of five of the suspected militants killed during an encounter with the police in Sohrab Goth were handed over to their families.

The bodies of the remaining unidentified eight are still at Edhi morgue. At least 13 suspects were killed when the District Malir police conducted a raid on the militants’ hideout on a tip-off on Monday. Four of the deceased were identified by their families on Tuesday at Edhi morgue as Abrar, Amir, Ameerullah and Naveedullah.

Another deceased suspect was identified as Abdullah on Wednesday by his family at the morgue.

SHO Ismail Lashari said that Abdullah used to live in Lasi Goth while the other four identified hailed from Bannu and used to live in Landhi. SHO Lashari further said that the bodies of the five identified militants were handed over to their families.

The bodies of the remaining eight were still at Edhi morgue as the police are trying to trace their heirs.
