KARACHI:

The Sindh Police have requested the federal government to install scanners at entry and exit points of Karachi to check smuggling of weapons and explosives and stop terrorists from entering the city.

Police also want CCTV cameras installed in several areas, including Super Highway, National Highway and Hub. The federal government has been requested to introduce a biometric system at entry and exit points of the city. Police had made a similar request in in September 2013 but did not receive a positive response from the government.

“We keep requesting the government to help us secure the city,” said a senior police officer. “We hope the government will now provide us the equipment and funds for the purpose.”
