Zaman, Danish, Mehboob off to flying starts
Experienced trio registers straight-games wins in national squash event

Second seed Farhan Zaman enjoyed an easy outing in his first match of the 8th DG Rangers Sindh National Squash Championship as he defeated qualifier Abbas Shaukat in straight games on Tuesday.
Zaman won with scores of 11-1, 11-4 and 11-7, while Danish Atlas hardly broke a sweat in his 3-0 demolition of Kashif Khan by score of 11-7, 11-1 and 11-1.
Senior player Farhan Mehboob also registered a 3-0 rout of Abdul Basit, while Mansoor Zaman won with a similar scoreline against Yasir Khan.
Meanwhile, Tayyab Aslam and Zahir Shah won 3-1 against Raees Khan and Ahsan Ayaz respectively.
The best match of the day was played between youngsters Asim Khan and Bilal Zakir as both players fought till the end; however, Asim came out on top after a five-setter.
Asim won the first game, but quick-footed Bilal hit back to win two consecutive games. Trailing 2-1, Asim did not give up and held onto the match by claiming the fourth game to make it 2-2.
As the match went into the decider, Asim’s superior fitness enabled him to win the match by scores of 11-7, 7-11, 7-11, 14-12 and 11-4.
In the girls’ competition, top seed Sadia Gul won 3-0 against Meyral Shaikh with a scoreline of 11-6, 11-5 and 11-7, while Madina Zafar overcame Fatima Zafar in a similar manner.
Second seed Samar Anjum also made light work of Unaiza Nasir, winning with scores of 11-4, 11-6 and 11-3.
