Both teams remained goalless in the 90 minutes of the match, after which NBP’s striker Yasir Sabir scored the winner in the second minute of the additional-time.
NBP coach Nadir Ismail said his team showed commitment and played aggressively against Afghan FC.
He added that he hopes the players will carry on the momentum in the remaining seven matches of his side in the tournament to finish among top five out of 12 teams in the competition.
“It was a good match,” Ismail told The Express Tribune. “My team has young players, their lack of experience can be their weakness, but they make up for it with their spirit and dedication in the field.
“If we win all of our seven matches, we can finish the season on the fourth or fifth position,” said Ismail.
In Wednesday's fixture, PAF will play Muslim FC in Karachi.
