Karachi encounter: Five militants killed in shootout

A policeman was also wounded during the encounter.

KARACHI: Five suspected militants were killed during an exchange of fire with the paramilitary force in the outskirts of Karachi on Wednesday night. The encounter took place when the Rangers conducted a raid at the militants’ hideout near Ijtima Gah Road, in the Manghopir area of District West. “As soon as we reached the militants’ hideout they resorted to indiscriminate fire at the Rangers’ troops. They also hurled a hand grenade, injuring a trooper,” said Sindh Rangers spokesperson. “Our jawans retaliated with full force and after an exchange of fire, five militants were killed.” Following the intense firing by the militants, extra contingent of police also reached the site to provide backup support to the Rangers. A policeman was also wounded during the encounter.
