KARACHI: Fire-fighters rescued around a dozen people trapped on the sixth floor of a burning building on Sharae Faisal on Tuesday. The fire broke out at around 9am in Siddiqsons, a seven-storey office building near Baloch Colony. Five fire brigades and a snorkel were rushed to the site. “Our first priority was to rescue the trapped people, who were office employees working on the sixth floor,” said a fire department spokesperson. “They were rescued via the snorkel after they managed to reach the roof through an emergency exit.” He added that it took the fire-fighters around three hours to put the blaze out. The cause of the fire has yet to be ascertained but initial investigations indicated that it was sparked by short-circuit.
