National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (Nepra) has approved an increase in power tariff of 3 electricity supply companies on Wednesday.
The decision was made despite countrywide protests against intense loadshedding.
Nepra has approved the hike in tariff applicable from the second quarter of the year. A per unit increase will be effective in power tariffs in Lahore, Islamabad and Gujranwala electricity supply companies.
Gujranwala and Islamabad will see an increase in per-unit rate between 15 paisas and Rs 1.35.
Lahore will see a rise in tariff by 5 paisas to Rs 1.50 per unit.
Meanwhile electricity tariff in Quetta has been reduced by 10 paisas to 75 paisas per unit.
