MURREE:

A young man was shot dead in broad daylight, while another sustained serious injuries, in the Patriata police jurisdiction of Murree on Thursday.

Following the incident, local residents staged a strong protest against the rising incidents of crime and violence in the area. The victim's family, along with a large number of locals, placed the body at Patriata Chowk and blocked the road in protest, expressing anger over the police's delayed response and the failure to apprehend the suspects.

A large crowd, including relatives of the deceased, carried the body of the victim, identified as Abdullah, to the main square in Patriata Bazaar. The body was placed on the road as demonstrators held a sit-in protest.

Protesters alleged that the police failed to respond effectively to the incident and did not reach the crime scene in a timely manner. They claimed that the absence of police action had caused widespread fear and anxiety among residents.

The demonstrators made it clear that the protest would continue until senior police officials arrived at the scene and accepted their demands. The protest was later called off after police assured the arrest of those responsible.

Expressing deep concern over the killing, residents said that the increasing incidents of crime and bloodshed in Murree were a source of serious alarm for the public. They urged senior police authorities to ensure the protection of life and property and to immediately arrest those involved in such crimes and bring them to justice.
