Final decisions on energy conservation due today
ISLAMABAD:
The energy conservation body finalised implementation of two of the recommendations made by the sub-committees on Wednesday.
A finalised proposal of a five-day working week and closure of markets by 8:00 pm has been forwarded to the Prime Minister who will announce the final decision on Thursday.
On the third and last day of the conference, the sub-committee on energy conservation recommended a ban on electrified billboards. The committees also said that an injection of 3030 megawatts in the national grid will have to be made.
The injection would be made by 2267 megawatts and 1156 megawatts from rental power and 300 megawatts from Gudu Power Plant by May 2010. Distribution companies have also been asked to ensure reduction in line losses immediately.
The finalised recommendations have been forwarded to the Water and Power Ministry which will hand it over to the Prime Minister after review.
