LAHORE: Pakistan Ulema Council and Interfaith Harmony Council have conferred the title of Binte Ummah on Tugce Albayrak, a Turkish Muslim woman based in Germany. Chairman Tahir Mehmood Ashrafi announced this on behalf of the president of the International Interfaith Harmony Council Syed Khurram Shah and other members of the executive council. He said the title was conferred to honour Albayrak who sacrificed her life to save two teenagers who were being harassed by three goons. Ashrafi said Albayrak had demonstrated that Islam preached goodwill and peace without discrimination. “She has made us proud.” He said a delegation from the Interfaith Harmony Council International would meet her family soon.
