Assaulted: Man arrested for rape of child maid

City Police Officer says DNA evidence should be collected and used for prosecution

Police arrested a 22-year-old man on Thursday for raping a 14-year-old maid.


A Samundri Saddar police spokesman said Ali Yaqoob*, a resident of Chak 387-GB, had gone to Muhammad Mushtaq’s house and asked him to sent his daughter to clean his house.

Rafiq Shahid, uncle of the victim, told police that Yaqoob had told him that he had been sent by his parents.

Shahid said Yaqoob insisted that the house needed cleaning urgently. He said Mushtaq sent his 14-year-old daughter Amina to clean it.

Shahid said the girl was sweeping a room when Yaqoob locked the door and raped her. He said he let her go after warning her against telling anyone.

The station house officer a team was formed to arrest Yaqoob when they received the complaint. He said they raided various houses in the locality and arrested Yaqoob.

He said the girl had been advised to get a medical examination and submit a medico-legal report so that further action could be taken

City Police Officer Sohail Habib Tajik has taken notice of the incident and DNA evidence should be collected and used for prosecution.
