LAHORE:

Pakistan needs to devise a strategy to empower its manufacturing sector and benefit from the free trade agreement with China, said Pak-China Joint Chamber of Commerce and Industry President Shah Faisal Afridi.

“Selected people should be channelled to conduct market research of items that are given duty free access in China and then manufacturing of such items should be enhanced,” said Afridi.

He said that the Ambassadors and Consul Generals are the eyes and ears of Pakistan, adding that they are making aggressive efforts to promote the country’s products.

He suggested that Pakistan should focus on modern techniques for maintaining market competitiveness and devise a comprehensive plan to diversify exports.

He asserted that there is a dire need to focus on the manufacturing of non-traditional products because living standards in China had increased and their new generation is inclined towards innovative and latest trends.
