A total of 48 patrolling vehicles, including 40 cars and eight single cabin vehicles, have been handed over to the National Highways and Motorway Police (NHMP) for effective patrolling and better law enforcement between the Peshawar and Lahore motorway. At a ceremony held on Wednesday at the main toll plaza in Islamabad to handover the new vehicles, Communications Secretary Shahid Ashraf Tarar said “Motorway police is a symbol of pride for the whole nation.” NHMP IG Zulfiqar Ahmad Cheema, while addressing the occasion, said the department needs to be furnished with the necessary resources for smooth functioning of operations. He added that a high number of NHMP patrolling vehicles have completed their prescribed mileage and the induction of new vehicles would help boost performance.
