Model town violence: Notice issued over Gullu Butt’s appeal

LAHORE: A division bench of Lahore High Court on Thursday issued notice to the Punjab prosecutor general on an appeal filed by Shahid Aziz alias Gullu Butt against his conviction. Justice Abdul Sami Khan is hearing the case. Butt told the bench that the trial court had ignored many facts and sentenced him to 11 years and three months imprisonment. His counsel requested the judge to suspend his conviction. The judge remarked that the appeal against the conviction was being heard and its suspension was not possible. The bench sought a reply from the prosecutor general.
