President talks sustainable energy solution required

Mamnoon Hussain says deficiencies in energy generation and its management had affected national development programmes

ISLAMABAD:


Sustainable energy production system is a prerequisite for socio-economic development and the government is taking effective measures to ensure sustained, clean, secure and affordable environment-friendly energy in the country.


This was stated by President Mamnoon Hussain while addressing the opening ceremony of International Conference on Energy Systems and Policies (ICESP) at Air University.


He said deficiencies in energy generation and its management had affected national development programmes causing serious setbacks to economic and social development.


Appreciating Air University for organising the conference upon a topic of utmost importance, he said the effort would help enhance public awareness on this issue. He said domestic and foreign experts would further help in finding practical solutions.


Higher Education Commission Chairman Professor Mukhtar informed that universities were involved in seeking solutions to the energy-related issues.
