Economic activity: Ministry to organise conference

The conference will be organised in collaboration with the Embassy of Netherlands, IFC and ILO

ISLAMABAD: The Ministry of Textile Industry will organise the ‘Buyers Conference’ next month, aimed at strengthening the compliance of Generalised Scheme of Preferences Plus. The buyers’ forum will facilitate and promote a dialogue platform between buyers and manufacturers to discuss sustainable practices and improved compliance and reporting on environmental, labour, health and safety standards and their implementation in the textile sector of the country, said a press release here Wednesday. The conference will be organised in collaboration with the Embassy of Netherlands, International Finance Corporation and the International Labour Organization. In this regard a consultative meeting was held under the chairpersonship of secretary Ministry of Textile for finalising the names of major international buying chains as well as focal persons from Pakistani side.
