management: ‘School councils empowered to resolve problems’

Minister for Education Rana Mashhood Ahmad Khan on Saturday said school management councils had been empowered to resolve problems of schools across the province.


He said Rs86.670 million had been provided to Bahawalpur’s school councils.

He was addressing a briefing at DCO’s office in Bahawalpur.

He said there were 1,953 schools in the district and 1,019 schemes had been started to provide missing facilities. He was told that Rs477.8 million had been spent on these facilities.

The minister said education was a fundamental right.

He said the government was taking steps to improve enrolment and attendance at schools. He said school council funds should be utilised in a transparent manner.

He said lawmakers should regularly visit schools in their areas to check performance of teachers.

He said girl guides and boy scouts should be tasked to encourage children to join schools. Minister for Cooperative Muhammad Iqbal Channar said every child should be educated. He said it was the duty of all parents to send their children to schools.
