The week started with the killing of four people in various neighbourhoods.
A 22-year-old woman, Farzana, wife of Muhammad Rafiq, was shot dead inside her house in Gulistan-e-Jauhar Block-14. Police officials said that the deceased was seven-month pregnant.
Based on initial investigation, the police said that the deceased hailed from Punjab. The couple had eloped from Punjab and were living in hiding in the city as Farzana's family was against the marriage. The police claimed that Farzana's father had also killed her mother back in their hometown as he believed that she supported her daughter's decision.
Police officer Ismail Memon said that the victim's relatives entered her house on Monday and escaped after the shooting. They killed her apparently in the name of 'honour', he added. The husband was in Punjab for work. Her body was taken to Jinnah hospital for an autopsy but the police have not registered a case.
Separately, 10-year-old Fazila was killed and Taj Muhammad, 45, was wounded in Sajjan Goth in Baldia Town when unidentified persons shot them for unexplained reasons. Police officials said that the girl died in crossfire between two groups in the area. The deceased and the injured were moved to Civil Hospital, Karachi.
In Surjani Town's Sector L-1, a school van driver, Imran Sultan, was shot dead. His body was shifted to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital. Meanwhile, a young man who has yet to be identified was shot dead in the Jhatpat market area of Lyari.
