The child died of malnutrition in the Civil hospital of Mithi. The ongoing drought has claimed up to 470 lives in three years.
In the drought-hit region that is spread over 22,000 kilometres, Civil hospital is often too far for residents to visit. Abject poverty and lack of transportation facilities make a visit to the hospital all the more daunting.
Moreover, the Basic Health Units (BHUs) and primary healthcare centres (read: the ones that are still functional) do not have the necessary medication or treatment facilities that are required by these children.
In the absence of such facilities, residents of Tharparkar continue to face the losses of their loved ones while the government continues to blame ‘Mother Nature’.
PPP
Sindh government has been under strict scrutiny and pressure to take steps towards bringing an end to the drought.
Earlier on November 6, Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) patron-in-chief Bilawal Bhutto had issued show cause notices to Chief Minister, Qaim Ali Shah and Provincial Deputy General Secretary Mansoor Wassan on the ground of an inquiry report revealing mishandling of this issue by the officials.
Yesterday, however, Bilawal withdrew the notices, ultimately blaming the media for false reporting and declared he never issued them.
Nonetheless an intra-party inquiry is being conducted under the supervision of Bilawal and action is expected to be taken soon after it is completed.

aaj bi Bhutto zinda hai,...aaj bi BiBI zinda hai....very soon Sindh govt and its capital will be shifted to Dubai
@Sunil: I am really surprise at us Indian we have more than million of armed forces in Kashmir so far we have killed more than 100 thousand innocent civilian kashmirees. we kill thousands of Muslims, Christians and our own Hindus because they belong to a lower cast. don't we used to be divided in cast system, our country was divided into many different princely states. it was Muslims who united us and gave us the beautiful gift of India. I love Pakistan because i am Indian I love Muslim because i am a Hindu. My religion teach love for all. I wonder what is your nationality and what is your religion because Hinduism and Islam both teach love not hatred.
...and now Bilawal has full omelet made of bad eggs on his face..... question is, ' does he care ? '
@Jat: Rather a shame that they think like that and have been bought up to hate Hindus and think of us as their enemy and want a Jihad to convert us all. All the time forgetting they come from the same background as us. Peace and acceptance of others, is what give stability and spiritual growth not hate. When will this hate end?

Pakistan is the most powerful Islamic nation in the world!!! Why are other Muslim nations not helping you? Why do you want aid from the Christian west? Why does Saudi Arabia not help?
It's time to hold Sind Festival by the "superman"
Inna Lillahe Wa Inna Ilaihe Rajeoon. Ameen. The PPP must accept the blame for the problems of Pakistan. The Thar calamity is unforgivable due to callousness and sheer negligence. THEY KNOW NO RESPONSIBILITY EXCEPT BALLOON ALLEGIANCE TO THE BARA SAEEN. Salams
The children are dying due to immature birth, prenatal complexities. The population welfare and health department needs to educate people in sindh.
