Turbat incident: Two constables wounded in IED blast

Kech is one of the worst insurgency hit areas in Balochistan

Two police personnel were wounded after their police mobile was bombed in the Tump area of Kech district on Thursday morning.


According to Turbat Levies official, police mobile was on its way to Tump from Turbat when it was attacked with a roadside Improvised Explosive Device (IED) in Asiabad area of Tump. “The IED was planted by unidentified persons and detonated through a remote control when the vehicle reached the spot,” an official told The Express Tribune.

Two personnel were wounded in the explosion, while the vehicle was damaged. The injured personnel were taken to Turbat hospital for treatment where they are said to be out of danger. The injured were identified as constables Mohammed Arif and Mohammed Asif.

No group has claimed responsibility for the explosion till this report was filed. Kech is one of the worst insurgency hit areas in Balochistan where clashes between security forces and Baloch militants often take place.

Human Rights Commission Paksitan’s Balochistan chapter says hundreds of local Baloch people have migrated from Kech district due to the volatility of the situation.
