Maid suffers fractured leg from employer’s beating

Rabia Bibi had been employed as a maid at Arshad Hussain’s house in Muslim Town.

FAISALABAD:

Police said on Thursday that a man had beaten up his maidservant and broken her leg in Millat Town area.

Officials said Rabia Bibi, a resident of Shahbaz Nagar, had been employed as a maid at Arshad Hussain’s house in Muslim Town.

Police said he had beaten her on Thursday after she refused to do some chores. Officials said she had suffered a fractured leg from the beating.

Niaz Boota, a close relative of the girl, alleged that Arshad had been harassing Bibi who had not acceded to his overtures.

Boota said on Thursday he had tried to rape her. He said he had beaten her with a wooden object when she resisted him.

Boota said the man had fled from the scene leaving the girl with a fracture. He said neighbors had rescued her on hearing cries for help and taken her to a hospital.

Speaking to The Express Tribune, the Millat Town station house officer (SHO) said a case had been registered against Arshad and further action would be taken on the receipt of a medico-legal report.

The SHO said a team had been constituted to nab the absconding man.
