ISLAMABAD:

The federal health ministry has decided to chalk out a comprehensive strategy focusing on about 500 high-risk union councils for polio eradication.

This decision was taken in a meeting held on Thursday to discuss the implementation of the directives given by the prime minister in the National Task Force meeting held on Wednesday.

According to a press release, National Health Services, Regulation and Coordination (NHSRC) Minister of State Saira Afzal Tarar, in a follow-up meeting, said the comprehensive plan will help to access all the children in high0risk union councils to vaccinate them against polio. “Another comprehensive security plan would also be developed for ensuring fool-proof security during the campaign,” she said.

She further decided to start a series of visits to the provinces to review the pace of work.
