Relief operation: Army moves to help Tharis

900 drought-affected families are provided food items, clean drinking water since Tuesday

RAWALPINDI: Army troops have been mobilised to the drought-hit areas of Tharparkar last night. In this regard four companies have been moved from Karachi to help their brethren in distress in Chahro, Dali and Mithi. According to an ISPR statement, four ration distribution points have been established at Khinser, Chahro, Diplo and Dhunai, where 60 tonnes of ration has been stocked so far. In addition, four relief medical camps have been established at Khinser, Chahro, Diplo and Dhunai, it said. The statement said that so far 900 drought-affected families have been provided food items and clean drinking water since Tuesday morning.
