Preparations: Sharjeel wants roads, drains cleaned before Muharram

Memon also directed all the local bodies to declare emergency and cancel the leaves of the staff members

Sindh Minister for information and local government, Sharjeel Inam Memon, has directed all local bodies, including the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) and the Karachi Water and Sewerage Board (KWSB) to repair all the dilapidated roads and drainage lines located in the areas on the route of the Muharram procession.


Memon was presiding over a meeting attended by senior officials of the local government department, including the KMC administrator and the managing director of the KWSB.

The meeting was briefed about the arrangements being made to facilitate the mourners of Muharram processions.

The minister directed the KWSB administration to repair all the damaged water and sewerage lines in the areas of Imam Bargahs and asked KMC officials to start carpeting of the damaged roads.

"This must be done within a week and cleanliness of the areas must be ensured," he said.

Memon also directed all the local bodies to declare emergency and cancel the leaves of the staff members.

"The relevant officials must ensure proper maintenance of street lights, availability of drinking water and cleanliness of the roads and streets." he said.
