PESHAWAR: Peshawar Electric Supply Company (Pesco) sprang into action against power pilferage on Tuesday as 15 people were put behind bars. “During the ongoing campaign to curb power theft, Pesco teams aided by police arrested 15 more people,” Pesco spokesperson Shaukat Afzal told The Express Tribune, adding that the Pesco special magistrate sent the accused to Central Prison, Peshawar on judicial remand. “Power theft causes huge financial setbacks and line losses for Pesco. We warn offenders to stop stealing,” added Afzal. Theft also causes overloading on the Pesco grid due to which the general public is inconvenienced with frequent power breakdowns, he explained.
