Fighting defaulters: PESCO police station to start functioning from Monday

DI KHAN:

A separate police station dealing in issues related to electricity theft will be functional in DI Khan from Monday, said Peshawar Electricity Supply Company (Pesco) Rural Division XEN Shaukatullah Khan on Thursday.

According to Khan, 54 policemen will be deployed at the Pesco police station and they will work under an SHO. “The police station will initiate legal action against illegal electricity connections,” said Khan.

The XEN warned those using illegal connections to remove them to avoid police action. He also urged defaulters to pay their bills immediately.

The initiative is among Pesco’s efforts to reduce theft and defaulters so as to avoid millions in losses.

Meanwhile, a road accident claimed a life in Rangpur village of Paharpur tehsil. According to the police, a motorcyclist whose identity had not yet been ascertained lost control of his vehicle which skidded on the road. The rider died on the spot.

In yet another accident on Bypass Road, DI Khan city, a motorcycle collided with a tractor-trolley, leaving the motorcyclist injured. He was shifted to District Headquarters Hospital.
