Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI) Acting President Mian Mahmood Ahmad has expressed concern over the flare-up of tensions on the Pakistan-India border. Apprehension about war was creating uncertainty about business activities which would hurt bilateral trade, he said in a statement on Wednesday.

Apprehension about war was creating uncertainty about business activities which would hurt bilateral trade, he said in a statement on Wednesday.
“After the South Asia Free Trade Agreement (Safta), trade was expected to be promoted along with expansion in bilateral relations, but no significant increase in two-way commerce has been recorded due to the growing non-tariff barriers.”
Unusual certification requirements, harassment by border security agencies, misleading propaganda against Pakistan, hurdles to getting visas, mandatory police reporting, lengthy documentation by visa offices, disrespectful behaviour and attitude of the agencies are considered as non-tariff barriers.
