Justice in play: Gillani’s guard sent on judicial remand
Counsel for the accused says his client had not meant to kill Malik

An Anti-Terrorism Court on Friday sent Muhammad Khan, a guard of former prime minister Yousaf Raza Gillani’s son, on 14-days judicial remand. He is accused of murder. When Defence police produced the suspect in court, the judge sent him to prison on 14-days’ judicial remand and ordered an identification parade. Counsel for the accused said that his client had not meant to kill Malik. He said Khan assumed he was a suicide bomber and shot in the air. One of the bullets accidently hit Malik. He asked the court to send him to prison. The police official said the weapon used had been recovered and the investigation completed so they had no objection to him being sent to jail.
