Multan police on Wednesday arrested a judicial magistrate and claimed to have seized liquor from his car.
Police said the car had hit two motorbikes driven by Muhammad Shahid, a citizen and Muhammad Faheem, a policeman.
Witnesses said an argument followed between three men riding the car and Faheem and Shahid leading to a fist fight. Police said they were informed of the incident on their helpline.
They said some citizens detained the men and refused to let them leave until police arrived. However, two of them managed to escape.
When a police team arrived, citizens handed over the man they had detained to them. Police said he introduced himself as Ashfaq Siyal, a special judicial magistrate.
Police said they seized three bottles of imported liquor from the car.Siyal was taken to Gulghast police station.
Gulgasht Station House Officer Nadeem Mujtaba said an FIR had been registered against Siyal for consuming and carrying liquor.
He said Siyal was later released on bail.
