Mian Muhammad bakhsh: Sufi saint’s Urs from tomorrow

AJK Minister for Auqaf and Transport Sahibzada Hamid Raza will chair the concluding ceremony on Friday.

MIRPUR: The two-day annual Urs celebrations of Punjabi Sufi poet Mian Muhammad Bakhsh will start from October 2 at his mausoleum at Khari Sharif in Mirpur, Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK). Mian Muhammad Bakhsh’s book of poetry Saif-ul-Malúk is a Punjabi classic and part of Punjabi syllabus at colleges and universities. AJK Auqaf Department has made special arrangements to mark the Urs. He was born in 1830 in Khari Sharif and died there in 1907. A large number of people, particularly from the Potohar region, visit the shrine on annual Urs. Pilgrims have started arriving from various parts of Punjab and Kashmir for the Urs. AJK Minister for Auqaf and Transport Sahibzada Hamid Raza will chair the concluding ceremony on Friday.
