KARACHI: Consul General of the Kingdom of Bahrain in Karachi, Ebrahim Ahmed Alhejazi, has invited members of the Karachi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) to participate in the first edition of the Arab-Asia Business Partnership Summit under the theme of ‘Reinvesting Regional Markets’.

Talking to KCCI President Abdullah Zaki and KCCI Managing Committee members, Bahraini consul general informed that the summit will be held from December 9-11, 2014 at the Bahrain International Exhibition and Convention Center Manama,

Ebrahim Alhejazi said the event will be organised in cooperation with the confederation of Indian Industry and their associates in the Arab-Asia region.

Speaking on the occasion, Abdullah Zaki underscored the need to enhance trade and commercial ties between the business communities of the two countries. He said this can lead to both countries prospering on a sustainable basis.

“We are keen to expand trade and investment ties with our Bahraini counterparts,” said Zaki. “Pakistan offers excellent investment opportunities in the energy and mining sectors, particularly in the Thar coal project in Sindh and copper and gold mines in Balochistan.”

He added that the Pakistani government and Bahraini kingdom must play their due role in bringing the business communities of the two countries closer.

“In FY14, Pakistan exported goods worth $110.8 million, rising 34% as against the previous year, while commodities worth $716 million were imported from Bahrain, depicting a sharp decline by 58% as compared to FY13”, he added.
