QUETTA: A complete shutter-down and wheel-jam strike was observed in different parts of Balochistan on Thursday in protest against the discovery of Baloch political activists’ bullet-riddled bodies.

The strike was called by the Baloch Warna Movement (BWM) and the Baloch National Front (BNF) against the recovery of the bodies of political activists in Khuzdar, Panjgur, Awaran and Kech districts. The nationalist parties said three people were kidnapped and killed in illegal detention in the Wadh area of Khuzdar.

Business and trade activities in Panjgur, Gwadar, Kech, Wadh, Kharan and other townships of Balochistan came to a standstill for the day. All shops and trading centres remained closed for the day as well. Further strict security measures were adopted to thwart any untoward incident.

Baloch nationalist parties said government functionaries were responsible for killing innocent people in Balochistan, and BNP said three people killed in an encounter in Khuzdar were innocent, and had gone missing a month ago.

Both these movements will die their natural death soon, as they are based on tribal interests.
