QUETTA: At least 11 people were killed in an armed clash between two groups near the Balgtar area of the Kech district in Balochistan.

“The incident took place in a remote area of the district around 6pm on Sunday,” an official of Balochistan Levies said.

The bodies were not brought to Civil Hospital Turbat for autopsies. However, Balochistan Levies have started an investigation into the incident.

Banned militant group Baloch Liberation Front (BLF) later claimed responsibility for the attack. The group’s spokesperson said that the 11 killed were informers of the government and were involved in drug smuggling in the Kech district.

“The killed people were informers of the government functionaries. They were involved in drug trafficking and kidnappings for ransom,” a statement issued by the BLF said.

Local administration has also confirmed this incident.

The Government needs to control the flow of firearms and explosives in the Province of Balochistan, and other such areas. People can get these dangerous tools far too easily. There is no check on preventing people who shouldn't have them from getting them. R.I.P the innocent deceased.
