Electricity theft: KE staff assaulted at Paganwala House

KARACHI:

The K-Electric has revealed that its staff and members of the media were physically assaulted by the residents and guards at Paganwala House, where they had gone to install metres after reports of electricity theft.

The incident took place when the utility's employees, along with police personnel, had raided the house located at Staff Line following reports of electricity theft at the premises.

When the KE team attempted to remove the metres they were assaulted by the security guards. Earlier, the KE had sent letters to Mian Absar Paganwala to notify him of the utility's decision to shift the metres outside the premises, which had been ignored.

The bill scrutiny revealed that the average consumption of the meters at the 5,000 square yard house remained constant at 300 units, which is far less for a house of the size.

K electric should start issuing bills on plot size to ensure revenue growth. the slabs should also be deleted just like the k electric policy of issuing bogus bills. this is the revenue generation doctrine of k electric. NEPRA and other government agencies turn a blind eye to the bogus billing tactic of k electric
