KARACHI:

An ambulance of the Khidmat-e-Khalq Foundation was set on fire on the Manghopir Road near Naya Nazimabad on Monday.

The ambulance burned to ashes, while its CNG kit, cylinder and a wireless set were stolen from the vehicle. Manghopir SHO Ghulam Hussain Korai said that the police have detained the ambulance's driver, Imran, who said that two unidentified men kidnapped him from Surjani and brought him to Manghopir. He claimed that the men escaped after setting the ambulance on fire.

However, Korai said that the driver was apprehended by citizens as he himself set the ambulance on fire and then tried to flee.

The police suspect that after stealing the CNG kit, cylinder and wireless set, the driver tried to set the ambulance on fire to cover up his tracks.
