Record wheat crop expected

LAHORE:

Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif said that about 2.5 million tonnes of wheat is lying in stocks owing to last year's bumper wheat crop in the province.

He, however, said that the government will make arrangements to stock this year's wheat yield in the province.

He revealed that the government needs Rs125 billion for procurement of wheat to save framers from losses.

The chief minister also ensured that the government will take steps to stabilise wheat prices within 72 hours.
